Michael Winkler

Originally from southeast Wisconsin, Michael earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. He started his career with Prudential Insurance working in California and then Minnesota. “My time with Prudential provided great insight into the relationship between insurance carriers and insureds. I strove to break insured’s initial apprehensions and create a collaborative environment to work through differences.”

While working at Prudential, Michael earned his master’s degree in business administration from the University of Minnesota. Michael then relocated to Green Bay to work for Wipfli, a public accounting firm. Following his time at Wipfli, Michael led the financial organization at Nature’s Way, a vitamin and supplement company, for over 20 years, most of which as Chief Financial Officer. As CFO and a member of the executive team, he was responsible for all aspects of financial management including strategic planning, budgeting, compliance, risk management, mergers and acquisitions, leveraged financing, and stockholder and board member relations.

“Having retired and recently entering the private market for health insurance has given me direct exposure to the transition experience that consumers go through when leaving the safety net of having employer provided benefits. I believe there is opportunity to educate the public and alleviate the fear that many people may have as they enter this process. As I learn more about CGHC’s Core Values and how they are practiced daily, it excites me to be considered for board membership. Promoting the value of human capital in driving the success of an organization has been a priority in my career. CGHC’s Core Values align with this.” He lives in Green Bay with his wife of 28 years and enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including biking, golfing, cross-country skiing, fishing, and hiking. They have 3 adult sons.
