Dr. Scott Anderson

Chief Medical Officer

As Chief Medical Officer, Dr. Scott Anderson’s most important role with Common Ground Healthcare Cooperative is to keep abreast of emerging health care trends, and to identify novel opportunities for clinical integration strategies within our EPO network to achieve quality, evidence-based and affordable outcomes for CGHC Members.  Currently, Scott oversees CGHC’s Medical Management, Utilization, and Quality programs, is the executive owner of CGHC’s Pharmacy Benefits Manager relationship and directs CGHC’s Population Health and disease management strategic initiatives.

Scott comes to Common Ground after 5 years with United Health Group where he served as Medical Director and subject matter expert for Optum’s Wisconsin-based Complex Care Management and Institutional Special Needs (I-SNP) Programs.  These programs were designed to assist members with chronic, complex and life-limiting conditions.  While at Optum, Scott was chosen to participate in United Healthcare’s Physician Leadership Development Program.  He led and implemented various internal and market facing clinical initiatives, including risk adjustment strategy and collaboration between advance practice clinicians (APCs) and health system providers, to serve high-risk, special needs and post-acute care populations. Prior to that, he was a practicing family physician with Aurora Medical Group (now Aurora Advocate Health).

Scott has special interests in Population Health, chronic disease management and the social determinants of health (SDoH).  He holds a B.S. degree in Biochemistry from Northern Michigan University, received his Doctor of Medicine degree from Wayne State University School of Medicine, and completed his residency in Community and Family Medicine at Duke University Medical Center. He is board certified in Family Medicine and additionally serves as Assistant Clinical Adjunct Professor at UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health.  Throughout his career, Scott has been a member of numerous professional societies and community organizations. He and his wife have 4 children.
