Brian Gartner was named as the Chief of Staff of Common Ground Healthcare Cooperative in April of 2022. Prior to Common Ground Healthcare, Brian spent five plus years at CareSource, a government program health insurer based out of Dayton, OH. He was the Georgia Market CFO overseeing all finances for the 450k member plan, serving Medicaid, Marketplace, and MA/DSNP members. Prior to that, he was a state actuary for the Ohio and Georgia Markets, where he was heavily involved in Medicaid capitation rate setting, plan performance, quality and affordability initiatives, and Marketplace bid development. He also spent a few years at Humana as an actuary in their Medicare Advantage and Employer Group space.

A Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and Associate in the Society of Actuaries, Brian earned his bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science from Ohio State University. He also holds a Master’s in Business Administration with a Healthcare Administration Certificate from the University of Cincinnati. In his free time, Brian enjoys traveling, golfing, spending time with his wife, dog, friends, and family.

An actuary by trade, he is here to help move CGHC forward across all organizational fronts. He found his passion for non-profit health insurance programs, giving back to the community, and making member centric decisions through CGHC and prior roles and truly believes and lives out our mission of Putting Members First.
